Game Introduction: Siren's sound, ravens gather. An empire is torn by darkness. The Governor is dead. Beyond the borders, new factions rise. You gird on your weapons, don your Armour, summon your followers, and ride forth to win glory over the darkness that has spread throughout your father's empire. You wish to establish your right as the next governor, so you set forth to seek control of what should be yours. To create a new world out of the ashes to rid and execute the darkness that haunts the lands.

Objective: You as the player wish to seek the revenge of your father, as well as restore the empire your father led. You wish to explore the lands to seek and execute the darkness that arises in them. However, tables turned when you found out your half brother was being controlled like a puppet after being cursed by a evil sorcerer in order to follow the commands of a evil daemon. You decided you wanted to save your half brother in order to join forces and take back what your father owned.

The background blends very well with the tiles and horizontal movement feels very smooth thanks to the animations. I also like the use of physics based objects.

The enemies could have been more animated to make them feel more alive and less static. And the ending could have been clearer. I wasn't sure if I had already made it to the end of the level or not.

high points:

  • the colour scheme and lighting of the level blends together very well, and there's a really nice atmosphere and sense of depth + dimension
  • the art style makes it very clear what can be used as a platform/interactable object, and what is part of the background - the gameplay is very intuitive

suggested improvements:

  • while the animations are very smooth, you could add animations for the enemies' movements to make them appear more hostile, and perhaps a jumping animation for the player
